High power sources
High-Power Sources feature about 10dB more output power in comparison to Broadband AMC/Sources, but in a limited frequency band. Typically, the frequency bandwidth of ACST high-power Sources is about 15-18%.
These are dedicated for customized applications where frequency band is not critical, but output power is important. These Sources are normally utilised in imaging systems for security verification and nondestructive quality control in industrial processes.
Signal Sources are designed to provide RF-signal at MM-Waves.
A source consists of a Voltage-Controlled Oscillator (VCO), followed by an Amplifier/Multiplier Chain (AMC). The AMC applies ACST High-Power Multiplier Technology resulting in best available performance with respect to output power, bandwidth and spectral purity.
Output signal frequency is defined by DC voltage applied at the V-tune port. These are plug-and-play modules and do not need any additional equipment for operation except electrical power supply. Upon request a TTL-port for ON-OFF signal modulation can be included.
The integrated VCO is free-running and, therefore, the phase noise of the output signal is not controlled. However, these sources are easy to operate and are dedicated to applications such as, for instance, antenna characterization, imaging systems employing phase-insensitive absolute power detectors for security verification and nondestructive industrial quality control.
