Part-Time Chief Financial Officer (CFO) (m/f/d)

With over 25 years of experience in terahertz applications, we are a strong partner in the field of terahertz electronics for laboratory instrumentation, industry, security, and space.
We are recognized for our innovation and technical excellence. Now, we are seeking a hands-on, strategic financial leader to help transition our company from a technically brilliant but financially unstable operation into a robust, growth-ready business.
Role Purpose:
The Part-Time CFO will work closely with the CEO to bring structure, insight, and forward-looking strategy to our finances. This is not just a reporting role — it’s about diagnosing challenges, building financial resilience, and shaping the company’s path toward sustainable profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Leadership – Design and implement a financial strategy to strengthen stability, profitability, and growth capacity.
Business Model Optimization – Analyze margins, pricing models, and cost structures; identify quick wins and long-term improvements.
Cash Flow & Liquidity Management – Improve cash flow forecasting, manage working capital, and reduce dependency on unstable revenue streams.
Turnaround Initiatives – Develop and execute a clear financial improvement plan, with milestones and measurable targets.
Growth & Investment Readiness – Prepare the company for future funding rounds, investor approaches, or strategic partnerships.
Financial Insights for Decision-Making – Provide monthly financial dashboards and scenario analyses to support strategic choices.
Funding & Banking Relationships – Source and negotiate financing options; build relationships with banks, investors, and grant bodies.
CEO Partnership – Act as a trusted advisor, translating financial data into clear, actionable business priorities.
Requirements:
Proven CFO, Finance Director, or senior finance leadership experience in SMEs, preferably in technology or high-growth environments.
Demonstrated success in improving financial performance in small-to-mid-size companies.
Strong grasp of cash flow management, business modeling, and strategic planning.
Experience with fundraising, investor relations, and negotiating partnerships or strategic investments is a plus.
Ability to thrive in a hands-on, entrepreneurial setting.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts for technical teams.
Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; professional qualifications (CPA, CMA, CFA) preferred.
